Never Would I Ever

Never...ever, ever, ever......EVER!

If you would have asked me two years ago if I would hold a snake yet alone have one living under my roof, I would have forcefully replied no way, no how, not EVER!

but.....

I have a daughter who is an animal lover.

I have a daughter who especially loves reptiles.

I have a daughter who spent over a year of her life using much of her free time researching which snakes make good pets.

I have a daughter who gave multiple presentations to 4-H groups, co-op classes, and anyone who would listen information about snakes.

I have a daughter who spent over a year of her life convincing her parents (who both despise snakes) that this would be a PERFECT pet for her.

Now...

I have a daughter who diligently takes care of this sweet ball python she has named Pretzel.

I have a daughter who still learns everything she can about reptiles and their care.

I have a daughter who wants to be a herpetologist when she grows up. (fyi--because I didn't know this until 2 years ago...someone who specialized in the study of reptiles and amphibians)

And now I snake-sit (and yes I hold her) while my daughter cleans out Pretzel's tank.

And I don't mind doing it one bit!

My insights to share with you.

There is a difference between fads and phases versus passions. If your child finds something they are truly passionate about, let them follow their heart. As homeschool parents, we have the ideal situation to encourage our kids to dive deep into topics and find what really captivates them!

And yes, it might take you completely out of your comfort zone....but trust me, you will be so glad that you were able to take that journey with your child.

You've Got This!
