Favorite Friday! Organizing your Student's Week

Happy Friday! We are so excited to be sharing our favorite books, curriculum, resources, and supplies that we use to homeschool! Each Friday, we will be sharing products we love to use in our own homeschooling adventure. Enjoy these homeschooling items that we can’t live without….and you shouldn’t either!

Today we are sharing items that we have used to help get our children organized for the week! If you are interested in learning more about planning your weeks, check out this post, which discusses scheduling versus routines.

We love helping our children become independent learners at an early age. One of the ways we do this is by assisting them in knowing what is expected of them each week. While our older students quickly learn what is "doable" in a week, our younger children need guidance. We give them a chart or checklist which lists assignments and have them check off work once it is completed. They truly feel a sense of accomplishment as they work through their week. We put this information and any additional papers needed for the week on a clipboard for each child.

We love using these Amazon colored clipboards so that we can easily track who they belong to, as well as not having the assignment sheet lost during the week. Plus, it is an excellent beginning of the year activity to let your kids decorate them with Sharpies and stickers!

While we teach our children to be independent, we also want to make school fun; one of the ways to do that is by having their favorite colored pens on hand! We have found that their favorite colored pens to use are Paper Mate InkJoys Gel Pens.

Not only are they fun to use, but they provide a cue for your visual students because you can color-code their work and schedules. We love how these gel pens write so smoothly. Over the years, we have used too many pens to count, and these are the top of our list! (Remember--you have to take time to appreciate the little things in life!)

We hope that your family will find these resources as valuable as we have. You will want to be sure to check out our other Favorite Friday picks!
